Homework and Classwork Grades (Progression):  These grades are every day assignments and will be graded for completion, effort and being turned in on time. Study Island is part of this category as well. Homework assignments will be posted on the agenda board if assigned. Students are responsible for writing everything in their agendas!

Tests, Performance Assessments & Projects (Mastery): Tests will be given at the end of each unit in order to assess the students’ understanding of the unit. Students will know the date well in advance. It will also be posted for them on the agenda board. Performance Assessments or Projects will also be used to measure student growth and understanding of our learning targets.

Participation (Engagement): These grades will be based on participation in class during discussions, checking homework, and computer lab activities.

Discipline Policy

Any behavior problems will be dealt with according to these general guidelines:

  1. Verbal reprimand
  2. Seating change
  3. Parent contact (by phone and/or e-mail)

After these steps have been taken a referral to counselor or to an administrator will be written. This will, of course, affect the student’s conduct grade!

Student Expectations

  • Students should have all supplies with them when they enter the classroom every day
  • Students should have homework assignments completed before they get to class
  • Students must be in class on time, ready to begin their warm-up and the lesson for the day
  • Students need to have a positive and respectful attitude

Supplies Needed for Math

  • Agenda
  • Pencils
  • Paper
  • Red checking pens
  • Textbook and RPJ

Late work will NOT be accepted!!!

Make-up work

A student will only be allowed to make up work if their absences are excused. They will be given the number of days absent plus one additional day to complete any missing work.

Once again, we have a wonderful year ahead of us. I anticipate a great math experience for your child. I will pass along any updates to you if necessary. My contact information is located below.
